Computer Care Tips for Teachers & Students

  • Restart your computer once a week to receive updates.
  • No stickers please!
    • Stickers are difficult to remove and leave adhesive residue behind.
    • Teachers, if you use stickers, please remove them before turning your laptop back in.
  • Students should not be eating/drinking while using the computer.

What do I do when technology isn't working?

  1. Always submit a Tech Support. Make sure you login to ​the Tech Support site once you are in.
    1. Do this right away to resolve your issue! Be ​DETAILED in the notes section of the ticket.
    2. This is located on your desktop with this icon. You ​can also click here to access Tech Support.
    3. When you submit a Tech Support, Khalid will get ​notified by email.
    4. Click Here for help on how to submit a Tech ​Support Ticket.
  2. Tech Support is used for teacher/student computers, ​printers, projectors, doc cams, applications, etc. Any ​kind of technology or software that has issues, submit ​a Tech Support.

Printing

Papercut Printing

Below are the directions for setting up Papercut on your ​computer.

  • Please copy this link (\\papercut-ps) and paste it within your ​windows search bar.
  • After pasting, hit "enter".
  • A box will pop up, right click

on the folder that says "FCPS Cloud Print" and click "connect". ​This will install the software for you.

  • After the installation you will notice the printing option "FCPS ​Cloud Print on papercut-ps". You will select this for your print ​jobs to the Ricoh machines. You then can go to any Ricoh in ​the building to print your job.

Color Printer/Grade Level Printers

If you want to connect to the Color printer in room 133 and Grade level printers you will continue using the same process in the past.

  • Please copy this link (\\laurelhilespsvm) and paste it within your windows search bar.
  • After pasting, hit "enter".
  • A box will pop up showing the

various printers. Right click on the

printer you want and click "connect".

  • After that you are all set and you will see the printer show up when you go to print.
  • IMPORTANT: You do not connect to the Ricoh printers this way anymore.

  • For the Color Printer, please do not be wasteful. Ink will only be replaced every quarter.

After getting your computer for the school year you will need to ​login to your Zoom Desktop App.

  • Be sure to login with SSO.

  • It will then prompt you to sign in with your account.

Office Phone Setup

  • All Staff need to make sure that their ​phones are working and their message is ​updated with their name and personal ​recording.
  • Use the quick reference guide to setup ​your voicemail. (Email Missy or Khalid if ​you have problems)
  • Plug in your phone using these ​instructions.

1. If your phone is not plugged in, check to ​see if the phone label matches the room ​number. If it does, then look for the VoiP ​jack in your room (see Ex. A). If the label on ​the phone is NOT your room number, email ​Missy and let her know.


2. Plug the ethernet cord into the back of ​your phone in the network jack(Ex. B)
